The Pension Fund Academy kicks off. Interested?
05-07-2017
The Pension Fund Academy is a place where you can develop your skills, learn more about pension and expand your network.’
Employers ING and NN Group are launching a new initiative in collaboration with pension funds ING CDC Pensioenfonds, NN CDC Pensioenfonds and Pensioenfonds ING: the Pension Fund Academy. Are you younger than 40 and interested in pension and playing an active role in one of the pension funds? Here's your opportunity.
The Pension Fund Academy will be launched in autumn 2017. The employers and the pension funds of ING and NN Group have set up this initiative to engage young employees (age 25-40) and encourage them to play an active role in pension funds by developing their knowledge of pension.
Why an Academy?
There were two reasons for setting up the Pension Fund Academy:
Recruitment
Fulfilling a position in a pension fund’s managing board or supervisory board requires specific knowledge, experience and training. The Academy will be able to recruit suitable candidates for such positions, which will be beneficial to the quality and continuity of the pension funds.
Important note: After attending the Pension Fund Academy, participants can be trained for a specific position through the pension funds.
Diversification
The Pension Fund Academy will help pension funds realise their diversity policies. By recruiting and training young and female employees, the composition of future managing and supervisory boards will better reflect the pension funds’ target groups.
What does the Academy offer?
In a group of 10-12 people, you will learn more about the pension regulations and pension funds of ING and NN Group. You will study topics including investments, finance & risk, communications, governance and dilemmas in the boardroom. And you'll meet professionals in this field. After six sessions, you’ll be well on your way to perhaps becoming a member of the managing or supervisory board!
Important note: The Pension Fund Academy does not deal with the commercial pension products offered by ING and NN Group!
What to expect?
If you are considering an application, here's what you should know:
- Participation is free of charge.
- You must have a permanent employment contract.
- You have been schooled at higher vocational or academic level.
- The sessions will take place after office hours (5.00-7.00 pm)
- The sessions will be held at the head offices of ING or NN Group in Amsterdam or The Hague.
- If you need to travel to get there, you can take time off from work (you must discuss with your manager or get a statement from HR).
- Meals will be served.
- The teachers are employees of the pension funds, and there will occasionally be external speakers.
- You will not be assigned any homework, but you are advised to attend all six sessions.
- The sessions will be held once every six weeks.
- You agree to be willing to act as ‘ambassador’ of the Academy and/or the pension funds during and after your sessions.
