On Tuesday 26 September, nineteen employees of ING and NN Group took part in the kick-off for the Pension Fund Academy. The employers and their three pension funds, ING CDC Pensioenfonds, NN CDC Pensioenfonds and Pensioenfonds ING, organised this event to enthuse young and eager employees into taking an active role in the pension funds. The kick-off not only focused on the origins of the three pension funds of ING and NN Group, but also on the playing field for pension funds.
At the kick-off, the employees pored over the development of pension as a concept as well as on the origins of ING CDC Pensioenfonds, NN CDC Pensioenfonds and Pensioenfonds ING. The playing field of pension funds was the topic of a quiz with online voting. The evening ended with a group assignment: the participants were asked to identify pension funds' stakeholders, such as special interest groups and regulators.
The organisers are pleased with the success of the evening and are working to prepare the second session, which is scheduled to take place in The Hague on 16 November. The topic will be ‘Dilemmas in the boardroom’ and participants will engage in a role play.
The Pension Fund Academy is an initiative of ING and NN Group and their three pension funds ING CDC Pensioenfonds, NN CDC Pensioenfonds and Pensioenfonds ING. The Academy helps the pension funds realise their diversity policies. By recruiting and training young and female employees, the composition of future managing and supervisory boards will better reflect the pension funds’ target groups.
