ING CDC Pensioenfonds is going to start dispatching pension letters again, as we now have more clarity on the ‘lump-sum withdrawal’. The new starting date of this option has now been tentatively set for 1 January 2024.
In mid-2022, the option of withdrawing a lump sum from your pension was postponed until 1 July 2023. We were not expecting this date to be feasible either, which is why we decided at the time to put the dispatch of our pension letters on hold. We informed you about this in our previous newsletter.
Postponed until 1 July 2023
As it turns out, the starting date of 1 July 2023 is not going to be feasible because the debate on the new legislation is taking the Dutch lower house of parliament more time than expected. The new starting date for the option of withdrawing a lump sum has now been tentatively set for 1 January 2024. What will this mean for you?
Retiring this year?
Of course, you can retire in 2023 as planned. We are going to start dispatching pension letters again. You get this letter six months before reaching your retirement age (67 years). If you’ll be turning 67 in the next few months and have not yet received your letter, you’ll be getting it soon.
Lump-sum withdrawal
So while you can start your pension this year, the option of taking out part of your pension as a lump sum will not be available to you for the time being. In any case not before 1 July 2024.
Careful consideration
If your retirement is starting soon and are you thinking of taking out part of your pension as a lump sum, we advise you to consider this carefully before making your decision. Read this to find out what you need to bear in mind and what could be the undesired implications.
