You want your partner and children to be well taken care financially should you pass away. ING CDC Pensioenfonds’s survivor pension and orphans’ pension will help support them.

If I pass away, what do my dependants need to do?
If you were residing in the Netherlands, we will automatically be notified of your passing away by the municipal personal records database (Basisregistratie Personen or BRP).
If you were residing abroad, your dependants must report your passing away by sending us a copy of your death certificate.
Your dependants may, if they wish, report a different correspondence address to us.
How will my surviving dependants get access to their surviving dependants' pension?
After your passing away, they will be informed about their partner pension and orphans’ pension (if applicable).
Until when will their survivor's pension be pay out?
Your partner will receive his/her pension for the rest of his/her life. Your children will receive orphans’ pension until the month in which they turn 18. The child’s right to receive orphans’ pension can be prolonged if, for example, your child goes to college or runs the family household. In any case, the right to receive orphans’ pension ends when your child turns 27.

If you pass away before your ING pensions starts
If you pass away before your pension has started and while you are employed by ING, your surviving dependants will not need to report this to us, as your municipality will do so. However, if you live abroad when you pass away, your surviving dependants will have to report your passing away to ING CDC Pensioenfonds by way of a letter.
Survivor pension
If you pass away, your partner will be entitled to survivor pension if:
- You are married.
- You have registered your partnership at your municipality.
- You are living together, your registered your partner with the pension fund and the pension fund has accepted your partner. The terms can be found in the pension regulations (Dutch only).
Your partner will receive survivor pension based on the amount of partner pension you built up plus any additional partnerpension you could have built up. Please read the pension regulations for more information.
Your partner may also be entitled to benefits under the General Surviving Dependants Act (ANW), till the AOW of your partner takes effect. For example if he/she cares for the children who are not yet 18 years of age. Or if he/she is disabled for at least 45%. Check these and other conditions of ANW on the website of Social Insurance Bank (Sociale Verzekeringsbank - SVB).
Your partner needs a higher income of you pass away? You can take out an insurance yourself. If this is relevant to you, contact an advisor or go to the HR website.
Temporary survivor pension
If you pass away while you are employed by ING, your partner will receive an annual temporary partner pension. The amount in 2024 is € 19,080,24. The pension fund pays this amount untill the AOW of your partner takes effect. Contributions for this pension will be fully paid for by the employer.
Orphans’ pension
If you pass away, your children will be entitled to orphans’ pension until the month in which they turn 18. This is also the case for stepchildren and, subject to certain conditions, your foster children.
‘Children’ also includes stepchildren and foster children raised and supported by you. You must register a foster child with ING CDC Pensioenfonds, which ING CDC Pensioenfonds in turn must accept. Make sure this is in order.
A child’s right to receive orphans’ pension can be prolonged if, for example, your child goes to college or runs the family household. In any case, the right to receive orphans’ pension ends when your child turns 27.

If you pass away after your pension has started
If you pass away after your pension has started and you live in the Netherlands, your surviving dependants will need to report this to your municipality, which in turn will report this to ING CDC Pensioenfonds. However, if you are living abroad when you pass away, your surviving dependants will have to report your passing away to ING CDC Pensioenfonds by way of a letter.

- Your partner is younger than the pensionable age for state old-age pension (AOW).
- The children are your own children and your partner cares for these children.
- The additional survivor benefits under the General Surviving Dependants Act (ANW)are paid by the state. The Social Insurance Bank (Sociale Verzekeringsbank - SVB) will pay these benefits after you have passed away. Visit their website for more information.
If you pass away after your employment by ING has ended
If you pass away after your employment with ING has ended, your surviving dependants will need to report this to your municipality, which in turn will report this to ING CDC Pensioenfonds. However, if you are living abroad when you pass away, your surviving dependants will have to report your passing away to ING CDC Pensioenfonds by way of a letter.

Your partner’s entitlement is subject to certain conditions; in any case, before your pension started or your pension plan participation ended, you must have:

If you pass away before your pension start, but after your employment by ING has ended
If you pass away in the Netherlands before your pension has started and you are no longer employed by ING, your surviving dependants will need to report this to your municipality, which in turn will report this to ING CDC Pensioenfonds. However, if you are living abroad when you pass away, your surviving dependants will have to report your passing away to ING CDC Pensioenfonds by way of a letter.

Life Certificate: Attestatie de vita
If you live outside the Netherlands, you must send us proof that you are still alive each year. This is because we will not automatically be informed if you pass away. In your country of residence, you can have a ‘Life Certificate’ form completed by:
- The Dutch Embassy or Consulate
- A local notary
- The local registry of births, deaths and marriages
Please observe the deadline for sending us your updated form each year to avoid cancellation of your old-age pension benefits.
