Will you be having a baby soon? Congratulations! Of course, you want your child to be well taken care of, even if you pass away. This is why orphans’ pension is available for your children.
Frequently asked questions
If I have children, what do I need to report to the pension fund?
Personal details concerning your children are not recorded in our systems. If you pass away, we will request the municipal personal records database (Basisregistratie Personen or BRP) to provide us with these details.
Are my partners children eligible for pension?
Your partner’s children are eligible for orphans’ pension. This is subject to certain conditions, which you can find in the pension regulations. For more information, please contact the Pension Desk.
Until what age will my children receive orphans' pension if I pass away?
Until the month in which they turn 18. The child’s right to receive orphans’ pension can be prolonged if, for example, your child goes to college or runs the family household. In any case, the right to receive orphans’ pension ends when your child turns 27.
Will having children effect my pension?
Having children will not affect your pension unless you decide to reduce your working hours. Note, however, that the total amount of orphans’ pension is capped if you have more than five children. For more information, please contact the Pension Desk.
What do I need to report if I have stepchildren or foster children?
If you have any stepchildren, you do not need to report anything to us, as the municipal personal records database (Basisregistratie Personen or BRP) will automatically report this to us. If you have any stepchildren that do not reside at your address but are supported by you, you must report them to us. If you have any foster children, you must report them to us.
