How do I register my partner and children?
You are planning to get married, start a registered partnership or start cohabitating without getting married. You might have children some day. It's an exciting new phase, and you’ll be facing lots of changes. Make sure you take some time to consider your pension, because some things will not be adjusted automatically.
If you are employed and about to get married or enter into a registered partnership, you do not need to take any action. Your municipality will automatically inform us.
I am cohabitating without being married. I was not aware that I had to register my partner with the pension fund.
Action required for cohabitation
Are you about to cohabitate without getting married? If you want your partner to be entitled to partner pension, you will have to report this to the pension fund. Note that certain conditions apply. To register your partner, go to the portal for participants (My Pension) or use the attached form.
If you have left employment
Did you leave employment before your pension started? Are you planning to get married, enter into a registered partnership or cohabitate without getting married? In all of these cases, your partner will be entitled to partner pension. If you reside in the Netherlands, your municipality will automatically report your marriage or registered partnership to us. If you are cohabitating without getting married, you will have to report this to us yourself by way of the attached form. Note that certain conditions apply.
When you retire
We know it's a long way ahead, but if your pension has started and you then decide to get married, enter into a registered partnership or cohabitate without getting married, your partner will not have any entitlement to partner pension.
If you reside abroad
If you get married abroad, you must send us a copy of your marriage certificate if you want to register your partner for partner pension. You can do this during as well as after your employment at ING, as long as your pension has not yet started.
If you have children
Personal details of your children are not recorded in our administration. In the event that you pass away, we will request your municipality to send us the details of your children. Having children will not affect your pension, unless you decide to reduce your working hours. However, the total amount of orphan’s pension is maximised if you have more than five children.
Further information
Whenever your personal situation changes, there will be consequences for your pension. The website ‘Marriage/partnership’ or ‘Children’ provides information on when you need to take action. Any question left? Please contact the Pension Desk for further information.
