Enjoy your life, knowing your pension is well sorted
If you’re leaving ING, it's a good idea to get things sorted out. Including financial issues – with or without the help of a financial adviser. Using your common sense, searching things on the internet and posing questions will help you get organised. Lots of factors are involved, all of which are in turn linked to your situation. Will you be retiring soon, have you found a different job, or are you starting your own business?
What if...?
To get a good picture of all the issues involved, it's a good idea to set up a ‘fact sheet’. Your retirement might not start for another ten years and feel very far away to you….. or is it approaching already? Is your partner a lot younger (or older) than you are? Make some calculations, check your buffers. Make a list of all these things, and don’t forget to include details from your pension funds, which you can find on your UPO and the government's website mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl. Digital tools like the Pension Planner are convenient, as they let you work out a lot of ‘what if’ situations. It will really help you if you take some time to use these tools. It's not difficult at all. And you'll know right away whether or not you need to start using your pension. Knowing these things will give you peace of mind.
Not your main concern?
Pension might not be your main concern right now. For many colleagues, that's the luxury of working at ING. You simply know your pension is being taken care of. Nevertheless, it's a good idea to check your situation regularly, for example once a year. You might already be doing that by consulting your UPO when you file your tax return. Working for ING, you might have more than average understanding of pension matters. Or you've got people around you whom you could ask. That includes the Pension Desk. So use whatever resources you have.
