Investing yields more in the long run than saving. That is why we invest the pension contributions and our pension assets at the lowest possible cost and with acceptable risks. The risks we take as a fund are aligned with the risk preferences of our participants. We regularly assess what those preferences are.
Investments can fluctuate
In recent weeks, for example, fluctuations occurred due to the new trade tariffs announced by President Trump. These caused unrest and volatility in the financial markets.
How do we handle this as a pension fund?
Our strategic investment policy is focused on the long term. We anticipate potential shocks during the lifetime of our investments. You can see that reflected in our funding ratio—it shows that we’re in a healthy financial position.
Fluctuations in that funding ratio are not a reason for us to immediately change our investment policy. Only if we foresee long-term issues, we may adjust the financial setup of our pension fund where necessary.
