Satisfied with the balance between financial returns and consideration for people, the environment and society

Our research has shown that three-quarters of our members are positive about the current balance between returns and consideration for people, the environment, and society. In fact, our fund’s current investments already pay attention to sustainability. However, the primary focus of our investments is on achieving returns. After all, we invest to provide our members with a good pension in the future.

Our research also shows that completely ignoring sustainability is actually seen as a risk to achieving returns. That said, this focus on sustainability should not go too far. Ultimately, it is about income for later, and therefore returns are important.

In addition, our members consider good governance to be very important. They have confidence in our fund because its directors and employees are experts. This also builds trust in the way we invest.

There is clearly a need for more information about investing. In the coming period, we will look at how we can best provide that. We also investigated whether more information would lead members to want to have a say in how we invest. It appears this is not the case: those who receive more information about how our fund invests actually feel less need to take part in decision-making.
