Retire before your AOW retirement age?
23-07-2024
You can, if you wish. Your pension is calculated on the basis of a standard retirement age. At our pension fund, that age is 67. But of course, you can retire earlier – from the day you turn 60.
If you retire early, you will not yet be receiving Dutch state pension (AOW), so you need to consider carefully whether you'll have enough income. You could bridge the gap until you reach your state pension age with some extra pension. If you do, you will receive a lower pension from us after your AOW has started. That's because you already used some of your pension to bridge the period before your AOW. You should also take into account that the AOW age may still change. If it does, the period you'll need to bridge if you retire early will be longer. Click here to calculate your AOW retirement age. Open our Pension Planner to calculate how much you'll get if you retire early.
